MAS Gets Five-Star Status At SKYTRAX Awards

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has been awarded five-star status in the SKYTRAX World Airline Awards, joining an elite group of airlines to receive this prestigious ranking for consistent and high quality of products and services. The national carrier also received the accolades of World’s Best Airline Cabin Crew and Best Airline Signature Dish for its satay, a traditional Malay dish, served in the business and first class cabins. In a statement here on Thursday, MAS said the awards were announced at a ceremony held at the Farnborough International Air Show, United Kingdom. The World Airline Awards are the global benchmark for airline excellence, with over 18 million travellers from over 160 countries and 100 different nationalities taking part each year in the world’s largest independent passenger satisfaction survey to decide the winners. The exclusive top-tier five-star rating and cabin crew prize is the most coveted of all the categories and a significant achievement for MAS, recognising the essence of Malaysian hospitality. The national carrier's on-board dining was also selected as the best in the skies, with the signature satay given the accolade of best signature dish on-board any airline. Its group chief executive officer, Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, said it was an honour to receive this five-star ranking and to be additionally recognised by the passengers as leading the way in service and hospitality on-board MAS. "I am pleased that our MAS team has been recognised for its passion to deliver the best service to our guests for memorable experiences during their journey with us," he said. -- BERNAMA
