MASkargo Mulls Joint Ventures, Pro-Rate Agreements

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), May 19 (Bernama) -- MASkargo Sdn Bhd, the air cargo division of Malaysia Airlines, is looking into the possibility of having joint ventures and special pro-rate agreements with its business partners in the near term. Acting Chief Executive Officer Mohd Yunus Idris said MASkargo acknowledges that alliances between airlines have become a dominant feature in the airline industry. "Many customers today demand a seamless service from anywhere to anywhere. "However, no airlines are able to efficiently provide such a service on its own aircraft," he said at MASkargo Megatonners Awards 2011 here on Friday night. He said in order to meet its customers demand at an efficient cost, MASkargo would seek commercial partners to help provide an extensive network and service coverage required. At the awards presentation ceremony, Schenker Logistic (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was crowned overall winner for the third consecutive year after stiff competition from second runner-up Kintetsu World Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd and third placed Nippon Express (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. The Most Improved MASkargo Appointed Agent was awarded to A-Sonic Logistics (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd while Forward Freight Services Sdn Bhd bagged the top Charterer award. The Megatonners Awards is organised annually by MASkargo to appreciate its customers for their invaluable support and key contributors towards MASkargo's success. -- BERNAMA
