MEET ICT Conference, BITEX partnership support agreement signed

Manama, Jan. 17 (BNA): Bahrain Labour Fund “Tamkeen” has announced becoming a strategic partner for the Information and Communication Technology Conference “MEET ICT” and the Bahrain International Technology Exhibition “BITEX”, to be organised by the BTECH and Worksmart, under the patronage of Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, on February 13-15. This partnership includes the organisation of special events between Tamkeen and private IT institutions and companies during the MEET ICT conference, with the aim of introducing these companies’ services, exploring how to enhance the effectiveness of its support. Moreover, Tamkeen will also effectively participate in the conference sessions, in addition to providing support to companies participating in BITEX. Commenting on the signed partnership, HE Dr Ebrahim Mohammed Janahi, Chief Executive of Tamkeen, said that Tamkeen is committed to supporting private sector institutions, encouraging them to expand in order to further stimulate the national economy. “Through its strategy for the next three years, Tamkeen is proceeding to activating the support programmes provided to individuals and the private sector within the framework of implementing Bahrain Vision 2030,” he said on the sideline of the partnership agreement signing ceremony. “Tamkeen’s continued support for companies in Bahrain stems from its keenness to strengthen the ICT sector in the Kingdom. This plays a vital role in raising the capacity of private sector institutions to develop their productivity and competitiveness." BTECH Chairman Ubaydli Al-Ubaydli said that Tamkeen's support for MEET ICT and BITEX is part of a permanent strategic partnership to develop the technology sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain and to increase its competitiveness and sales. Al-Ubaydli said that organising both MEET ICT and BITEX fall in line with the national trend towards advancing the technology sector as one of the important sectors in economic diversification, in addition to increasing the contribution of this sector to the national output. He pointed out that Bahrain has all the qualifications necessary to proceed with the development of the ICT sector, from an advanced legislative structure, trained expert local competencies, and proximity to the major regional markets, which contributes to placing the Kingdom on the global map of the ICT industry, enhancing the ability to attract large international technology companies. Ahmed Al Hujairi, CEO of Worksmart affirmed the importance of Tamkeen's support in achieving this regional technological event’s objectives.  He called on companies in the sector to benefit from attending and from Tamkeen’s support in order to enhance partnership with it, as well as promoting, developing and increasing sales. Al Hujairi said that MEET ICT and BITEX will be held under the title "Embracing The Digital Transformation" and will focus on the business model which is ever-changing as a result of continuous technological developments, with the introduction of a number of topics including acceleration of business activities and processes, opportunities in digital technologies and prioritisation.
