MGCC Brings Business Delegation From Rhineland-Palatinate
KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 (Bernama) -- A business delegation from the state of
Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany, is in Malaysia for a three-day visit to explore the
potential of the Malaysian market for investments, joint-ventures and other
forms of business cooperation.
According to the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC),
Rheinland-Pfalz -- an economic and cultural state with focus on renewable
energies and bionass -- is looking to strengthen the political cooperation
between Germany and Malaysia, mainly in the areas of green technology, energy
and water to ensure an even better cooperation in the future.
In conjunction with the visit that ends Tuesday, a half-day workshop on the
use of biomass from palm oil production and from other industries was held
Monday.
Ernst-Christaph Stolper, Secretary in the Ministry for Economic Affair,
Climate Protection, Energy and Regional Planning of Rheinland-Pfalz, said the
environmental technology industry in Germany and Rhineland-Palatinate is an
important economic sector that enjoys considerable growth rates.
"The green technology sector in Rhineland-Palatinate currently makes up 10
per cent of the gross domestic product.
"This state aims to increase the percentage of renewable energies in the
power consumption volume to at least 30 percent by the year 2020," he said at
the workshop.
The workshop focused on organic waste as a basis for high value
bio-chemicals, organic waste as a source for de-centralised energy production
and new alternatives in ensuring soil-water household and plant protection.
