MIGHT Launches National Foresight Institute

KUALA LUMPUR, June 29 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) on Friday launched the National Foresight Institute (NFI), an initiative dedicated to the study and application of foresight in Malaysia. NFI will manage several programmes including myForesight, a strategic engagement platform dedicated to studies of future possibilities using scenario studies, Delphi method, workshops and cross impact analyses. "The studies will be monitored by MIGHT experts and academics, policy makers and external think tanks," myForesight Director Rushdi Abdul Halim said after the launch here on Friday in conjunction with MIGHT's 17th annual general meeting. Attendees included MIGHT Joint Chairman (Government) Prof. Emeritus Zakri Abdul Hamid, MIGHT Joint Chairman (Industry) Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali and MIGHT Chief Executive Officer Mohd Yusoff Sulaiman. The institute, which has collaborative links with organisations from the UK, South Korea and Canada and plans to expand its collaborative network to other countries, will look into such issues as solid waste management, climate change and green technology. -- BERNAMA
