Minister of Energy : Electrical Power Grid of the most important GCC Common Projects

Abu Dhabi, May 28, 2013 (WAM) - Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, in the presence of Dr. Matar Hamed Neyadi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy, has received a delegation from the GCC Electrical Power Grid Authority. The visit comes within the programme parameters of the Authority for the GCC to promote the benefits of the GCC Electrical Power Grid Authority in particular regard to activating the energy trade between GCC countries. Al Mazrouei emphasised that the GCC electricity power grid is one of the most important GCC common projects which has proven its usefulness over the past four years since it began in July 2009, benefitting all countries associated with the grid gaining support during periods of emergency. The Minister pointed out that the energy sector in the next phase is looking forward to reaching optimal use of energy resources, highlighting the role of the GCC electricity grid to provide opportunities for the exchange of energy on a commercial and economic basis which reflect the actual cost of electric power. He confirmed his support for the Authority's efforts and urged officials to submit integrated proposals for Ministers concerned with electricity and water supply on such opportunities. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
