Modernization of customs check points
Shymkent, 18 December 2008, (Khabar) - The modernization of customs check points situated on the southern border of the Republic has already brought visible gains, as this year’s income obtained, as a result of import duty, increased by 13%. With the help of the mobile facility “Rapiscan”, the Republic’s customs officers can literally see through any vehicle. No weapons of drugs can be hidden from it as an operator can spot even the smallest items. If cargo and its documents are in order, it will take drivers up to 3 minutes to be examined. Ordinary people can pass the examination procedure quickly as well.
Fakhritdin Umarov, Kentau city resident:
- I pass by this machine many times as my relatives and my family live in Uzbekistan. Thanks to modern equipment and well-qualified customs personnel, no delays can be seen here at all.
The customs also have sanitary and veterinary check points.
Meirkhan Satybaldin, head, South Kazakhstan regional customs control department:
- The customs operates under the one-stop-shop principle and is registered within 15 minutes. According to a governmental decree, all customs services except for the frontier troops will be answerable to the customs control department from the 1st of January next year.
The unification of supervising bodies will allow the time spent on customs procedures to be shortened and will make customs control more effective.
