More than 20,000 flights available during Royal Cremation Ceremony

SAMUT PRAKAN, Oct 20 (TNA) – About 20,400 flights with available 4.1 million seats will be offered at six airports to cater to increasing domestic passengers during the nine-day period of the Royal Cremation Ceremony, said president of the Airports of Thailand (AoT) Nitinai Sirismatthakarn. Two major Bangkok airports-Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport will serve 8,500 flights and 6,300 flights respectively, he said. The Transport Ministry and seven other aviation agencies and airline companies insisted today that they are ready to serve increased passengers during the Royal Cremation of His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith said the national carrier Thai Airways International (THAI) and its subsidiary Thai Smile Airways have added extra domestic flights. Thai Airways will operate additional 183 flights to serve 110,000 passengers and Thai Smile will operate 393 flights with more than 131,000 seats from Oct 23-31. The AoT will offer free bus service from Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueang Airport to Nang Lerng Royal Turf Club for people to attend the ceremony at Sanam Luang ceremonial ground. (TNA)
