Muay Thai operators’ networking planned

BANGKOK, Sept 28 (TNA) -- The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) plans to develop a network of Muay Thai as the Thai martial art creates an economic return worth 100 billion baht a year. OSMEP director-general Suwanchai Lohawatanakul said the economic yield came through health-promotion sports activities, the sales of related products and the growing export of Muay Thai teachers. Muay Thai was popular especially among people in China, the United States and European countries and was attracting a large number of visitors to the country. However, there was not a master plan for the systematic networking of people involved in Muay Thai business, he said. This year OSMEP was implementing its project to build the network that would cover all parties concerned in Muay Thai and was applying innovations and technologies to improve Muay Thai-related products and services and raise their value, Mr Suwanchai said.
