KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) -- The Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Mukhriz Mahathir will lead a three-day trade and investment mission to Kyoto and Nagoya from Monday. The visit is primarily to promote Malaysia as the preferred investment destination in Southeast Asia and firm up business collaboration opportunities in sectors such as green technology, high-tech capital industry, biotechnology, advanced electronics and automotive industry. It is also as a follow-up visit to the previous trade and investment missions to Japan in July and December last year, the ministry said in a statement on Friday. Mukhriz will be accompanied by government officials, state government representatives and a business delegation, it said. Programmes arranged for the mission include meetings with Japanese companies, attend business seminars and factory visits. Mukhriz will also be representing Malaysia at the Asean Economic Ministers' Roadshow to Japan in Sendai and Tokyo from April 25-28. The roadshow is to update the Japanese business community on the progress status to realise the Asean Economic Community by 2015 and determine a disaster resilient supply chain by learning from the experiences gained during the Great East Japan Earthquake and the catastrophic floods in Thailand. -- BERNAMA
