OAPEC delegates visit GPIC

Manama, Apr. 21 (BNA): Organizing Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC)'s delegates visiting Bahrain to take part in a conference on developments in the refining and petrochemical industry visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) and were received by General Manager (Manufacturing) Fadhel Al Ansari along with members of the Executive Management. Al Ansari conveyed to the visitors the greetings of GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and said the visit would allow them to get acquainted with the nature of the Company's work and witness its state-of-the-art facilities. The visitors were given a brief on the Company's business and strategy as well as operation and production processes and exports. They were also told about GPIC’s most important achievements and awards; the high quality of its products and the latest and best global standards in the areas of safety, quality and environmental preservation. The guests were briefed on the carbon dioxide recovery plant at GPIC, the first of its kind in the Middle East, which is contributing significantly to the reduction of harmful emissions as a result of factory operations. They were told about the training programmes and activities of the Academy of Leadership and Learning, the e-Learning Centre, as well as GPIC’s contributions in providing practical training for students of universities and institutions as well as graduate academic programmes. The visiting delegation praised the modern means of education and advanced training and said such programmes offered within GPIC confirms the great attention given to staff training issues and a keenness to provide them with the latest technology and knowledge. The visiting delegation went on a tour of the Complex and saw the several environmental projects, including the Princess Sabeeka Aromatic Plants Garden, the Herbs and Medicinal Plants Garden; the Charity Fish Farm and the Bird Sanctuary. The delegation thanked GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery and members of the Executive Management for the reception and the hospitality and said they had witnessed the amazing development of the industry in Bahrain in general and Gulf in particular. They said the unique environmental projects set up by within the industrial Complex underline the commitment and orientation towards a clean industry. They also praised the global standards established by the Company during their production process in the safety and health fields, which had earned it a reputation not only in the Arab world, but also globally.
