Oil worker's day
Atyrau, 9 September 2008, (Khabar) - The first Zhaiyk oil was extracted 40 years ago. In Atyrau region, the staff of oil and gas extracting department "ZhaikMunaiGaz" celebrated the profession holiday.
Koblan Muhambetov has been working as a metalworker in underground workshop of "ZhaikMunaiGaz" for over 30 years and he is one of most experienced workers of large company that extracts more than one million of tone of oil. On the eve of the holiday he was named as the best in his profession.

"ZhaikMunaiGaz":
- It is very joyful day for me. I again became sure the profession of an oil
worker is one of the best and respected ones. Giving of new equipment
pleases us very much because it becomes easier to work with modern technics.
Currently oil and gas extracting company explores 8 oil deposits and the oil
is extracted at the depth 400-1 800 meters.
Orak Sarbopeyev, head of oil and gas extracting department "ZhaikMunaiGaz":
- Our region is rich with natural resources but it hasn't been researched
till the end yet. That's why we extract oil and at the same time we explore
the area and we hope we will find new oil deposits soon.
The whole district celebrated Oil Worker's Day, hundreds of people came to
the opening of alley of working glory in settlement Akkistau.
Vladimir Miroshnikov, first deputy of director general of "KazMunaiGaz" JSC:
- "ZhaikMunaiGaz" contributed much into development of region as 70% of oil
workers are local residents. It must be considered as a contribution into
national oil extracting company into issue of annihilating of unemployment
in regions.
The oil companies also solve many social problems in the regions. Secondary
school for 620 pupils was built in settlement Akkistau several years ago and
the company took it under its patronage. The staff of "ZhaikMunaiGaz" gifted
two equipped cabinets for labour lessons for girls and boys. Also the pupils
received mini-stadium with artificial grass. The first competitions were
dedicated to Oil Worker's Day and the holiday ended with horse races and
concert.
