Pertamina To Meet The Nation's Energy Needs

Jakarta, Dec 7 (ANTARA) - State-owned oil and gas firm, Pertamina, has set a target of meeting the national and regional energy needs by 2025, through infrastructure development and energy exploration, said its director. Pertamina`s President Director, Karen Agustiawan, made this remark in her report to President Susisilo Bambang Yudhoyono, aboard the KRI Makassar Warship, which was sailing towards the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit in West Java, on Thursday. "2012 has been an important year for Pertamina. With the new vision, Pertamina`s business will not be limited to oil and gas, but will include the creation of new business opportunities," she said. She said apart from developing a number of projects, Pertamina is also keen on meeting the energy needs of the country. In the meantime, President Yudhoyono requested Pertamina to continue developing its business. "Energy is important. Pertamina needs to develop its business to achieve the target. The country will require investments in the energy sector in the future," said the president. On Thursday, the president inaugurated a number of Pertamina projects worth US$15.8 billion. The projects are as follows: the Enhanced Oil Recovery projects of Pertamina EP, Pertamina Hulu Energi and Pertamina EP Cepu, worth US$15 billion; gas processing plants in Sungau Kenawang and Pulau Gading valued at US$325 billion; and the NGL plant, Perta Samtan Gas, worth US$193 million. The president also inaugurated a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in West Java, worth US$93.28 million; the LPG terminal project in Tanjung Sekong with a capacity of 10,000 MT, worth US$35 million; the SPBG coco to reduce fuel oil subsidies in the transportation sector, worth US$3.7 million; three units of tankers (Kakap, Meditran and Gamkonora) valued at US$78.8 million; and the Ulubelu power plant, unit 1 and unit 2, worth US$114 million. "The inauguration of the projects shows that Pertamina is determined to meet the nation�s energy needs. Pertamina is determined to cater to Asia`s energy needs by 2025, by diversifying its business lines so that it can become an integrated energy holdings company," said Pertamina`s President Director. Pertamina will also develop a solar cell with a capacity of 60 MWp and a solar module factory with a capacity of 30 MWp, worth US$48.6 million.
