Plans to double Danat Jebel Dhanna to 400 rooms

Abu Dhabi, May 5, 2013 (WAM) - The National Corporation for Tourism and Hotels (NCTH) has announced plans to build 200 new rooms to double the capacity of Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort and Dhafra Beach Hotel to 400 rooms.
The project also includes the construction of three new restaurants, a swimming pool and SPA and it is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2014, according to HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Chairman of NCTH.
Sheikh Nahyan said the project is intended to face a rapid expansion in the tourism sector in Abu Dhabi's Western region, which has witnessed massive construction, tourism, services and industrial ventures over the past few years.
He noted that such achievements are due to the continuous support by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi crown prince and deputy supreme commander of the UAE armed forces and his efforts to lure in more capital into projects in various sectors.
Sheikh Nahyan revealed plans to construct two new hotels in the Western region in the next two years as part of NCTH's plans to push ahead with a drive to turn the region into a key tourism destination.
According to Walid Nicolas Harouni, Hotels Division Director at NCTH, the project would include three major restaurants along with other facilities and that it is considered as the largest tourism venture ever to be carried out in the Western region.
He said the hotels affiliated to Danat complex, stretching over 400,000 square metres, has recorded high occupancy rates over the past few years due to strong demand by guests from corporate companies as well as tourists from the GCC, Europe and other countries given its good seaside location just opposite Sir Bani Yas Island.
NCTH owns Danat complex which is managed by Danat Hotels and Resorts and is nearly 245 km away from Abu Dhabi city and just 10 minutes from Sir Bani Yas. Danat currently has 200 rooms, suites and villas overlooking the sea and it occupies one km of the beach. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
