Restoran D'Tandoor To Expand Business To Abu Dhabi

By Norsyafawati Ab Wahab KUALA LUMPUR, March 17 (Bernama) -- Restoran D'Tandoor plans to expand its brand to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with the opening of seven franchise businesses this July. Its founder and managing director, Abdul Malik Abdullah, said with an estimated investment of RM1.5 million for a franchise, Abu Dhabi represented the fourth place it has penetrated after Australia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia. "We have just signed a master franchise agreement with a party in Abu Dhabi and they are now renovating the restaurant which is expected to commence business in July. "According to the plan, seven branches will be set up, with two to be set up each year for a three-year period staring now," he told Bernama. Abdul Malik said currently, the restaurants were only in Klang Valley and Ipoh, the capital of the northern state of Perak. He said the company planned to open six franchise businesses this year; so far it has four franchisees in Bukit Mertajam in Penang state and Melaka state. There would also be two franchised businesses in Kuching in Sarawak state and Brunei, he said. Abdul Malik said there were also plans to expand its kiosk business under 'Mr Tandoor' brand. "We plan to build five kioks this year costing about RM100,000 each. "They will be located in the Low-Cost Carrier Terminal, KL Sentral and in shopping centres in Subang, Selangor, Johor and Penang," he said. -- BERNAMA
