RI, UK Agree To Double Trade Value In 2015
London, Oct 28 (Antara) - Indonesia and the United Kingdom have agreed to double trade and investment value in 2015, according to Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom and Ireland T.M. Hamzah Thayeb.
Ambassador Thayeb made the remarks during a working visit to Edinburgh, third secretary of the Indonesian Embassy in London Yodho Priambudi said on Sunday.
The visit was aimed at helping achieve the target of doubling trade and investment value and enhancing trade, investment and education cooperation, Priambudi said.
International Operations Director of the Scottish Development International (SDI) Neil Francis said SDI is making every effort to achieve the target, adding that Scotland is focusing on enhancing trade and investment cooperation with Indonesia.
The cooperation includes renewable energy technology, oil and gas mining, life sciences, engineering technology, tourism, food and beverage industry, financial services and education.
During the visit in Scotland, Thayeb also met with SDI officials, businesspeople and Chairman of the International Committee at Universities Scotland Professor Nigel Seaton.
Seaton visited Indonesia last September to lead a group of Scottish universities to seek out profitable tie-ups with the country`s burgeoning higher education sector.
While in Indonesia, Seaton visited a number of cities including Jakarta, Bogor, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Medan.
At his meeting with representatives of Scottish companies, Thayeb said his visit to Edinburgh was aimed at attracting more Scottish companies to invest in Indonesia.
The Indonesian government is focusing on developing infrastructures while at the same time encouraging development in the fields of education, electronic industry, health, and food, he said.
