Scomi Strengthens Position in Brazil with New Monorail Manufacturing Facility

KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Scomi Engineering Bhd, a unit of Scomi Group Bhd, will strengthen its position in Brazil with the commencement of a monorail manufacturing facility owned by its local partner, Montagens e Projetos Especiais SA, in August. Country president of Scomi's Brazillian unit, Urban Transit Servicos do Brasil Ltda, Hilmy Zaini Zainal, said the facility was a landmark initiative undertaken by the group as part of its growth and expansion strategy in the country. "With this facility, we are reiterating our strategic commitment of providing innovative urban transport solutions to the Brazilian market. "Countries like Brazil and India are fast developing economies and are vital markets with growing business opportunities for us," he said in a statement on Tuesday. He said the manufacturing facility, which complemented Scomi's presence in Brazil would have facilities to manufacture monorails.
