Second Finance Minister Of Malaysia To Lead M'sian Delegation To Manila

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Second Finance Minister of Malaysia Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah will be leading the Malaysian delegation to the 45th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank and the 15th ASEAN+3 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (AFMGM+3) from May 3 to 4 in Manila. At the Asian Development Bank meeting themed "Inclusive Growth Through Better Governance and Partnerships", he would deliver a speech on the current global economic conditions and its impact on Asian economies. "At the AFMGM+3, Ahmad Husni will discuss the Chiang Mai Initiative Multilateralisation (CMIM) which includes the strengthening of the Crisis Resolution Mechanism, the introduction of the Crisis Prevention Function and the progress of ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) legal status. "Other areas that member countries will discuss include the Asian Bond Markets Initiative (ABMI), Research Groups and Future Priorities," said a statement issued by the minister's office on Wednesday. Ahmad Husni will also attend the Asean Infrastructure Fund’s inaugural Board Meeting. The US$485.2 million fund was spearheaded by Malaysia and is expected to be operational by June. In conjunction with the annual meeting, seminars will be held to discuss the impact of global financial turmoil on Asia; new opportunities for growth in Asia; the role of key emerging economies in Asean, China and India; regional trade and financial integration; urban disaster risk management; climate change; and food security. About 4000 participants, including heads of governments, finance ministers; central bank governors and representatives from the private sector and academia are expected to attend the meetings. -- BERNAMA
