Six M'sian Companies Generate US$299.63 Million In Sales At APPEA 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 (Bernama) -- Six Malaysian companies succeeded in generating total sales of US$299.63 million during 166 pre-arranged one-on-one business meetings at the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA) Conference and Exhibition 2012 in Adelaide, Australia. The event was held over four days from May 13. The participation of the Malaysian companies in what is the largest energy event in the Australasian region, was coordinated by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade). The participation was aimed at showcasing Malaysian expertise and capabilities in the oil and gas industry. Malaysian companies offer various specialised services such as marine engineering and construction, safety garment manufacturing, safety, environmental and occupational consultation, integrated engineering, production chemicals and engineering inspection. "The Malaysian companies had meetings and discussion with more than 150 exhibitors, mainly from Australia, Spain, Singapore, the United States and New Zealand," Trade Commissioner of Matrade Sydney, Shaiful Sharif said in a statement Wednesday. He also said the sales generated were from automated ultrasonic testing, crawler pipeline inspection, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, consultation & laboratory services and engineering materials, exploration, certification, production of chemicals and industry apparels for personal protection in petrochemical industry. In addition, Shaiful said that there were also 16 joint venture partnerships secured from exploration and production, EPC contract, consultation and laboratory services as well as in personal protection apparel. The APPEA Conference and Exhibition is also a platform to meet-up with buyers not only from Australia, but also from New Zealand, Timor Leste, Fiji and Papua New Guinea. -- BERNAMA
