South Korean importers arrive in Bursa
BURSA (A.A) - February 21, 2012 - A group of 20 people from the Union of South Korean Importers (KOIMA) and South Korean Economy Ministry have arrived in the north-western province of Bursa on Tuesday at an invitation by the Union of Istanbul Mining and Metals Exporters (IMMIB) and the Union of Uludag Exporters (UIB).
The two sides signed an agreement Tuesday to boost commercial relations and cooperation.
Speaking at the ceremony at the UIB, KOIMA's Deputy Chairman Gyu Hwa Jang said that this was his second visit to Turkey.
Previously, I did not have a chance to see the potential of the Turkish industry. I have noticed Turkey's potential after visiting Bursa, Jang underlined.
You are much interested in the automotive and textile sectors. These are sectors in which we have tremendous knowledge and experience. We believe that bilateral cooperation in these two fields would be beneficial, Jang stressed.
Also speaking at the ceremony, UIB's Coordinator Orhan Gencoglu said that Turkey's trade volume with South Korea in 2011 was around 6.8 billion USD.
Our wish is to see this trade volume increase through collective efforts, Gencoglu stressed.
Another speaker at the ceremony, Orhan Sabuncu, the Chairman of the Union of Automotive Industry Exporters (OIB), said that there were many fields in the automotive industry where Turkey and South Korea could cooperate further.
The meetings in Bursa will help develop further cooperation between Turkey and South Korea in the automotive industry, Sabuncu noted.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Burkay, the Chairman of the Union of Uludag Textile Exporters (UTIB), has said in the ceremony that they wanted to have a secure spot in the Korean market through strong and positive relations.
Following the speeches, Bursa Governor Sahabettin Harput, Gyu Hwa Jang and Orhan Gencoglu signed the "Joint Intention Declaration" agreement.
Later on, the businesspeople of the two countries held bilateral talks in Bursa.
