Support of small and medium-sized businesses
Astana, 20 February 2009, (Khabar) - In the near future, businessmen will be able to use 30 billion tenge, which was allocated as part of the anti-crisis programme for crediting the small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) of Astana. The city council has created a special data base of those, who need financing and sent it to commercial banks which have already received over 600 applications.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, head of Astana:
- We have created a special working team, which will be responsible for financing SMEs. These SMEs of Astana are in need of over 80 billion tenge.
“BTA Bank” is planning to start the financing next week.
Botagoz Kaparova, deputy head of “BTA” bank branch in Astana:
- Since the effective interest rate amounts to 12.5%, I believe that businessmen will feel the support of the government and we will be able to see the effects.
In Astana this enterprise makes covering of race-tracks, football fields and even rubber asphalt from worn-out automobile tyres. It is first such enterprise in Kazakhstan and it receives orders from China, Russia and Germany.
