BEIJING, November 11 (TNA) - On the sidelines of the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Beijing from November 9-11, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha met senior executives of a Chinese state enterprise and two private businesses, namely POWERCHINA, ZTE Corporation and a group of Shandong business persons. Government Spokesman Dr. Yongyuth Mayalarp told journalists on Tuesday that the Thai prime minister thanked the three Chinese corporations for having an interest to invest in Thailand. The spokesman said the Thai prime minister affirmed that his government has a policy to support economic development in many aspects, including through implementations of alternative energy policy, infrastructure projects, digital economy and support for local rubber industry to add values to Thai rubber products. According to the spokesman, the Board of Investment of Thailand (BOI), under the Ministry of Industry, has been assigned to increase incentives for international private firms that propose to invest in Thai industries related to national development. POWERCHINA, a Chinese state enterprise running businesses on solar and wind power for electricity generating, is interested in expanding its business into Thailand and took part in an earlier bidding for a mega water resources management project in the Thai Kingdom. ZTE Corporation, a Chinese expert on Internet networking, 4G technology and internet services, is interested in the development of Thailand’s infrastructure development projects in the information technology (IT) sector. A group of Chinese business operators from Shandong is interested in rubber processing and its 50 delegates plan to visit Thailand in the coming months to explore the feasibility in establishing rubber processing facilities in the Thai economy, where a highest return to their investment is anticipated.
