Thailand expects higher rank in Doing Business 2017 survey
BANGKOK, May 17 (TNA) Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak says that he expects Thailand's higher rank in the World Bank's Doing Business 2017 survey, the results of which will be released in August.
Somkid, who oversees economic affairs, voiced the positive expectation on May 16, following his meeting in Bangkok with a World Bank delegation, led by World Bank Country Director for Southeast Asia Ulrich Zachau.
Somkid told journalists that the World Bank delegates echoed more positive signs of doing business in Thailand after being briefed on updates by several relevant Thai government agencies.
The Thai deputy premier asked heads of relevant government agencies to take some times for completing the World Bank's survey documents by themselves to become first-handed information for the Washington-based financial institute to conduct this year's survey in remaining issues.
According to the deputy premier, Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha wants to see Thailand's better rank in the Doing Business 2017 survey, at the 33th place, after the country's rank went down to the 49th place in 2016, from the 26th place in 2015. (TNA)
