Thailand hosts AMER7 for mobilizing alternative energy solutions

BANGKOK, Nov 2 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the 7th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable (AMER7) that draws energy ministers in the region and leading international energy institutes to showcase their visions and guidelines to deal with changing energy situation and transformation to alternative energy. Thai Energy Minister Gen Anantaporn Kanchanarat said Thailand's energy policy is related to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He said the country's Energy 4.0 policy gives priorities to technological development and new innovation based on HM the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej's self-sufficiency economy philosophy and royal initiatives on alternative energy, reflecting success in changing economic crop and agricultural waste into high-valued energy and how Thailand can out the policy into practice. The AMER7 provides a platform of policy dialogue between exporting countries such as Western Asian countries and energy importing countries such as China, Japan, Korea and ASEAN member countries to discuss and explore the way forward towards more secure, stable and sustainable future for both oil and gas market., he said. The AMER7 roundtable will look into the importance of disruptive energy technology as the global trend has been transformed from fossil to clean, green renewable energy. Among the highlights are the rise of rooftop, electric vehicle uses and energy storage system development. Thailand is one of a few countries in Asia that has an explicit development of such a disruptive technology policy. (TNA)
