Toyota chief in Thailand believes Trump policy will not directly affects Thailand

BANGKOK, Jan 24 (TNA) -- Toyata Motor Thailand firmly believes that the new policy initiated by the new US administration would not directly affect Thailand's economy and would have no impact on automobile productions in the country. President of Toyota Motor Thailand Kyoichi Tanada said that the new economic policy initiated by the 45th US President Donald Trump, which does not favour China, will not have an indirect effect on the Thai economy, as it is not directly connected to the US economy. However, he said the new policy would affect the Chinese economy, which could in turn, create a rippling effect to the Thai and ASEAN economies. Nonetheless, Mr Kyoichi said China has the largest population in the world and would try to stimulate its economy domestically, making it possible for China to stabilise its economy. The automobile giant head firmly believes the new change would have little affect on the world economy. He further evaluated that the new policy by President Trump could affect the production base of Toyota in Japan, as the policy would focus mainly on improving the internal economy, while Toyata Japan must continue to export automobiles into the United States and would increase its productions to meet demands. As for the economy in Thailand, Mr Kyoichi said the price of agricultural produce must be monitored closely, as once produce prices are lowered, they would impact the Thai economy as a whole, which would also affect the automobile production market. He stressed that the automobile market in Thailand this year would be better than in 2016, noting that Thailand is heading into a hybrid automobile market. (TNA)
