Turkey conducts works to deal with high import figures

ISTANBUL (A.A) - February 14, 2012 - Turkish economy minister said on Tuesday that they were concerned over high import figures and working on the matter.
Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan held a press conference on Turkey's imports in 2011.
Recalling that Turkey's imports reached 240.8 billion U.S. dollars in 2011, Caglayan said that but Turkish state could not put ban on imports.
The real problem was a complication from valuation of TL against other currencies, he said.
Caglayan said Turkish officials were conducting concrete works to deal with high import figures.
Russia, Germany, China, the United States, Italy, Iran, France, India, South Korea and Spain were the countries from which Turkey made most of its imports, he said.
Caglayan said that there were 65,323 importer companies in Turkey in 2011.
