Turkey posts highest industrial production index since 2005

ANKARA (A.A) - February 8, 2012 - Turkey has posted the highest industrial production index since 2005, industry, trade and technology minister said on Wednesday. Nihat Ergun said the industrial production index in December 2011 was the highest figure recorded since 2005. "Gears continue to turn in our country despite all fluctuations in global markets," Ergun said. Ergun's remarks came after the statistics authority, TurkStat, had posted the rise in industrial production index as 3.7 percent in December 2011. The industrial production in 2011 went up 8.9 percent on the average. Ergun also said Turkish industry's performance in 2011 was important for it indicated that Turkish industrialists could do better if macro-economic figures were strong and stability was maintained.
