Turkish crude steel production hit record high in 2011

ANKARA (A.A) - January 22, 2012 - Crude steel production in Turkey hit a record high of 34.1 million tons in 2011, marking a 17 percent rise over previous year from 29.1 million tons. Production was also up on monthly basis in December to 3.1 million tons with an increase of 11.5 percent over the same month a year earlier, a national association of Turkish steel producers said.   Production in Turkish steel in 2011 doubled average production figures in the world as the Turkish sector expected a 12 percent increase in 2012 to reach 37.5 million tons.
