Turkish economy minister: low unemployment rate shows Turkish economy's dynamism

ISTANBUL (A.A) - February 15, 2012 - Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan has said that the low unemployment rate showed the dynamism and soundness of economy. Unemployment figures of November has been the lowest one ever for November month, added Caglayan who spoke at Turkey-South Africa Business Forum on Wednesday. Unemployment rate in Turkey in November 2011 dropped 1.9 points over the same month a year earlier to 9.1 percent. Urban unemployment was 11.1 percent and rural unemployment was 5.5 percent in the given period. The number of jobless decreased to 2 million 429 thousand from 2 million 811 thousand whereas the number of the employed rose to 24 million 267 thousand from 22,854 thousand.  Noting that 25 million people were being employed in Turkey, Caglayan said that Turkey was exporting products to 246 customs zones of the world, adding that 92 percent of export was comprised of industrial products.
