Turkish energy minister says natural gas problem about to be solved

ANKARA (A.A) - February 8, 2012 - Turkish energy minister said on Wednesday that the problem regarding interruption of natural gas flow to Turkey was about to be solved. Replying to questions on interruption of Azeri natural gas flow to Turkey, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Taner Yildiz recalled that there was a remarkable reduction in the amount of natural gas from Azerbaijan and Iran to Turkey, stating that the problem was about to be solved with great efforts by both Azerbaijani and Iranian officials. Flow of Azeri gas to Turkey would be increased gradually as of today, he said. All countries have been suffering from poor weather conditions, Yildiz said. Natural gas flow from Azerbaijan to Turkey stopped on Tuesday due to a technical failure. There is no shortage in the natural gas given to residences and industry. Turkey's daily natural gas consumption is 176 million cubic meters due to cold weather.
