Two batches of Chinese engineers certified for high speed railway construction in Thailand
BANGKOK, October 25 (TNA) - Two batches of nearly 150 leading Chinese engineers have passed a compulsory training program and an examination on Thai laws, geographical attributes and disastrous risks, organized in China's Tianjin City, and will be soon certified by Thailand's Council of Engineers for their work on the construction of a high speed railway linking Bangkok with Nakhon Ratchasima Province or Korat in the country's northeastern region.
Council of Engineers Secretary-General Amorn Pimanmas told journalists of the update on Wednesday, noting that the training program and the examination of the Chinese engineers, most of whom are chief engineers, project managers and design managers, are in compliant with an order issued by the Thai army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), headed by Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha, aimed to ensure the quality and efficiency of the first-phase Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima high-speed railway, which has been contracted by the Chinese side.
Amorn said the two batches of 146 leading chinese engineers, who have passed the training program and the examination, represent about 60 per cent of a total of 250 Chinese engineers assigned to work for the Thai high speed railway project, and a ceremony to present them their certificates will be soon held in Tianjin, scheduled for October 27-30.
Amorn revealed that participants of the upcoming third batch-training program will be all the remaining Chinese design engineers, while those of the fourth-batch training program will be Chinese engineers who mainly supervise the high speed railway construction project.
According to the Council of Engineers secretary-general, the Chinese engineers have passed the examination on Thai laws
at about 43-44 scores on average, out of a total of 50 scores, and the examination on Thailand's geographical attributes and disastrous risks at about 74-82 scores on average, out of a total of 100 scores. (TNA)
