UAE and Australia ink cooperation agreement

Abu Dhabi, April 8, 2013 (WAM) - In line with its strategic objective, the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Infrastructure and Transport of the Commonwealth of Australia on the 1st of April 2013.
The signing of this important MoU will facilitate the rapid expansion of civil aviation operations between the two countries. This will also result in enhancement of trade, tourism as well as cultural exchange between the two countries.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, signed the MoU on behalf of the Government of UAE, whereas Mr. Mike Mrdak, Secretary, Department of Infrastructure and Transport signed on behalf of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia.
This MoU will go a long way in promoting mutual cooperation for the improvement of civil aviation security. This will be achieved by sharing and exchange of information related to civil aviation security, development of technical expertise and training in the field of civil aviation security.
The signing of the MoU exhibits the cordial relationship shared and cherished by both the countries in the field of civil aviation. The Government of UAE, represented by the GCAA, will continue to strive to strengthen relationship in other areas of civil aviation too. It will be the endeavour of the GCAA to have similar agreements with other countries having robust civil aviation infrastructure that can benefit the people and government of the UAE. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
