UAE and Kyrgyzstan discuss stronger trade relations

Abu Dhabi, Feb 4, 2013 (WAM) - Ways to promote trade relations and increase exchange between Kyrgyzstan were discussed by minister of foreign trade, Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi, and the visiting first deputy prime minister of Kyrgyzstan, Joomart Otorbaev. The meeting also discussed opportunities to launch joint investments in different sectors in both the two countries as well as barriers to Kyrgyz investments in the UAE to fully tap the potentials and opportunities of both economies. In remarks at the meeting, Sheikha Lubna called for intensifying efforts to increase the UAE's exports to Kyrgyzstan's neighbours, noting that the UAE's foreign trade should focus on emerging economies. Highlighting the key developments and advantages of the UAE's economy, including modernised legislations, the minister said trade exchange between the two countries is below the aspirations of the leaderships of the two countries. For his part, the Kyrgyz senior official expressed his country's desire to boot trade and economic relations with the UAE with a focus on the private sector. The UAE's share in the total volume of bilateral trade with Kyrgyzstan stood at 96% in the first half of 2012. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
