UAE, Japan to boost trade

Abu Dhabi, April 28, 2013 (WAM) - UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri recently met Japanese Ambassador to the UAE Yoshihiko Kamo at the ministry’s headquarters, with the two officials discussing ways to boost cooperation and bilateral relations, particularly in the trade, economy and investment fields.
They also reviewed the UAE-Japan Business Forum, which is to be held in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and a number of key officials, investors and businessmen from both sides.
The forum will discuss the latest economic, investment and trade development bonds between the two countries, in addition to the role of the private sector, businessmen and investors in enhancing ties towards better prospects.
Al Mansouri said that the two countries enjoy strong and deep relations for more than 40 years. The bilateral relations between the two countries is strong in various aspects, especially in energy, economic, investment and trade.
He added that both the UAE and Japan have broader horizons of cooperation in the light of the joint desire to develop bilateral relations and boosting them in all aspects.
Al Mansouri added that the UAE is keen to benefit from the experiences of developed countries — Japan in particular — since the UAE’s economy is changing into a knowledge-based economy.
The volume of trade exchange between the two nations grew by 50 per cent over the past five years to US$52.9 billion.
