U.A.E. participates in opening session of The World Investment Forum, WIF

GENEVA: The U.A.E. has participated in the opening session of the World Investment Forum (WIF) in its fourth edition being held at The Palace of Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, from 13th -16th of October. The U.A.E. delegation is headed by Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy. The WIF, which for this session is being held under the theme: "Investing in Sustainable Development", is organised every two years by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, "UNCTAD". The opening session was attended by the Minister of Economy along with Abdullah Al Saleh, Secretary-General of the Emirates Competitiveness Council and a number of senior officials from government and private sectors. Al Mansouri said that the WIF provides an important platform for the promotion of the investment environment characterised by the U.A.E., combined with encouraging legislation and laws for investment, business and advanced infrastructure for transportation services, transportation and logistics services. He pointed out that participation in this important international event comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to perpetuate the status of the U.A.E. at an international level as a centre for investment and economic and commercial activity, as well as an international terminal for institutions, corporations and businesses. Al Mansouri added that the forum is an opportunity to briefed on the experiences of various countries in the world in the field of attracting investment, and the best policies and practices in the recruitment of these investments to serve sustainable development and the national interest. He also referred to the fact that the U.A.E. is one of the most successful countries in the region in attracting investments as a result of the progress and development being achieved by it in various fields, especially in the field of economic competitiveness, in which the U.A.E. occupies advanced positions on the most important international indicators. Al Mansouri noted that the U.A.E. has a number of pioneering investment projects in line with the U.A.E.'s Vision 2021, which aims to achieve a sustainable diversified economy based on knowledge. Al Mansouri underscored the U.A.E.'s quest through the WIF platform to provide more information about the promising investment environment provided by the U.A.E.'s investors through bilateral and mass meetings, which will be held with a number of economic delegations participating in the event. He also pointed out that the U.A.E. has an investment environment supported by an integrated modern infrastructure with global competitiveness, in addition to the presence of more than 30 Free Trade Zones which allow for full ownership of investment projects and the free transfer of profits.
