World Bank resumes offering loans to Iran

TEHRAN,Nov. 10 (MNA) -- The World Bank resumed offering loans to Iran after a yearlong break under political pressures inside the bank, the managing director of Iran Water and Wastewater Engineering Company stated. Mehdi Samareh-Hashemi told that the country received a 50-million-dollar loan from the World Bank in late October for implementing wastewater projects in northern cities. Iran had received $145 million from the World Bank for the Tehran wastewater collection system, but receiving further loans faced hurdles due to political pressures, he added.
