Delegation of Kyrgyz CEC takes part in monitoring presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkiye

Bishkek, May 16, 2023. /Kabar/. The delegation of the Central Election Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by Chairwoman Nurzhan Shaildabekova, took part in monitoring the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkeye as part of the mission of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).

According to the press service of the CEC of the Kyrgyz Republic, the mission carried out observation in Istanbul.

The CEC delegation visited a number of polling stations and observed the voting process, also spoke with voters, officials of election commissions and local observers. After the closing of the polling stations, the delegation of the CEC took part in the monitoring during the counting of votes. There were no violations of the law during the counting of votes, the report said.

Based on the results of the monitoring, the international election observation mission of the OTS confirmed in its conclusion that the presidential elections and the general parliamentary elections in Turkiye were held openly, transparently, competitively, in line with the national legislation of Turkiye and generally accepted international electoral standards.

According to data published this morning on the online platform of the Anadolu news agency, 55 million 761 thousand 445 people voted in the presidential elections. As a result of the voting, the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received 27 million 88 thousand 360 or 49.50% of the vote, his main rival, the leader of the Republican People's Party Kemal Kilicdaroglu, received 24 million 568 thousand 196 or 44.89% of the vote.
