Deputy FM of Kyrgyzstan meets with Secretary General of CICA

Bishkek, May 4, 2023. /Kabar/. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Aibek Moldogaziev met on May 3 with Secretary General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybai.

Aibek Moldogaziev noted that the Kyrgyz Republic attaches great importance to cooperation within the framework of CICA and supports the efforts of the Kazakh side to realize the overall potential of the Conference as a dialogue mechanism, as well as its transformation into an international organization. At the same time, he stressed the importance of practical activities and joint efforts to maintain stability and security in the region and create conditions for sustainable socio-economic development of the member countries.

Kairat Sarybai informed about the work being done by the Secretariat on the preparation of the Roadmap for the transformation of CICA into a full-fledged international organization under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan and the efforts aimed at the institutional development of CICA as a whole.

In addition, Sarybai proposed to organize a CICA pedestrian crossing in the second half of July this year with the participation of the diplomatic corps accredited in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

He said that this event will provide an opportunity to strengthen cross-border cooperation, including between the border services of the two countries, and also draw the attention of the world community to environmental issues, raise awareness of the potential of mountainous areas, including for the development of tourism and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
