ASEAN Film-Making Talents Expected To Be Unearthed At AIFFA 2019

KUCHING, April 26 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry is confident that the ASEAN region will reveal its depth as a database of new talents, especially at the ongoing ASEAN International Film Festival And Awards (AIFFA), here. Its minister, Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said ASEAN filmmakers and financiers were equally responsible for the films that would win the list of awards to be presented at the fourth edition of AIFFA, which is being held here from April 25-27 and marks another highlight in the Visit Sarawak Year calendar. “We are at the heart of a large, diverse, vibrant and creative population and these filmmakers and financiers can unearth the best stories that we have in ASEAN and to give them the spotlight that they deserve,” he said at the launch of the AIFFA Biz World 2019 here Friday. Twenty-nine films in 16 categories will vie for top awards at the AIFFA 2019 Gala Night tomorrow. Joining the ASEAN filmmakers, screenwriters and actors for the three-day festival is Hollywood action star Steven Seagal, best known for films like ‘Under Siege’ (1992) and ‘Above The Law’ (1988). -- BERNAMA
