Global Humanity Poems Appreciation Draws Participation From Seven Countries

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- The National Poets Association (PEMUISI) received a total of 215 poems and 232 videos of poetry reading/poetry songs for the 2020 Global Humanity Poems Appreciation programme held online from Oct 24 to Oct 26. Its president Dr Radzuan Ibrahim said a total of 430 participants from seven countries namely Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, India and Russia took part in the programme, which was held online for the sixth time. “Almost all of the poetry posted on PEMUISI Berkarya's Facebook page and other social pages by the programme participants carried the themes of humanity and life in today’s world,” he said in a statement here Wednesday. Radzuan said the uploaded poems for the programme portrayed the voice of universal humanity from the perspective of the poets based on current and local situations. Among the famous poets who participated included Hamad Kama Piah Che 'Othman, Prof Emeritus Dr Muhammad Salleh, Dr Zurinah Hassan, Prof Dr Awang Sariyan, Prof Emeritus Dr Hashim Yaacob, Dr Lim Swee Tin, Associate Prof Dr Norhayatie Ab Rahman, Dr Ami Masra, Associate Prof Drs Siamir Marulafau (Indonesia) and Prof Dr Victor Pogadaev (Russia). -- BERNAMA
