Russian young pianists win international contest in Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, December 8. /TASS/. Russians won an international contest of young pianists in Rio de Janeiro, and a Ukrainian was the third. The first was 25-year-old Daria Kiselyova, who impressed the jury in the final with her performance of Sergei Prokofiev’s Concert Three. The second was 22-year-old Dmitry Shishkin, winning the hearts of the audience with his performance of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s Concert One. He also won the audience’s special prize. The third was 25-year-old Dinara Klinton from Ukraine, who had studied at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky State Conservatory. The IV international contest of young pianists, which ended on Sunday, was held with support of the Brazilian National Bank of Social and Economic Development. It was organized on a very high level, musicians said. “The public here has a very keen understanding of music. The audience does not only hear attentively, but also gives positive energy,” Shishkin said. Read more
