Quantity of biogenic substances in Kura and Araz rivers exceeds norm

Baku, September 24 (AzerTAc). The National Monitoring Department on Environment under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has conducted a monitoring on the Kura and Araz rivers to study the level of pollution of the rivers and their branches. According to the Ministry, the monitoring results revealed that the water flow in the Kura River in comparison with the first decade of September fell by 13.7 cubic meters per second. It was determined that due to the impact of untreated waste water and sewage industry dropped from Georgia and Armenia, the amount of biogenic substances in the Kura River and its tributaries is much higher than normal. A similar situation was observed in Agstafachay reservoir, as well as in areas of the Araz River - Horadiz, Shahsavan I, Bahramtapa. The oxygen regime of water at all points ranges within health standards.
