Shams 1 plant reflects vision of the leadership on development of renewable energy, says Hamdan bin Zayed

Abu Dhabi, March 18, 2013 (WAM) - H. H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region said the UAE led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and follow up by His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, looks forward to diversifying sources of energy. He said in a statement on the occasion of inauguration of Shams1 Plant that the project represents one of the main sources of energy diversification and "It is an important strategic transformation with huge environment and economic dimensions, as well as a genuine translation of the vision of leadership on development of renewable energy solutions towards sustainability". Sheikh Hamdan lauded the ambitious steps taken by Masdar, citing the launch of Shams 1 Plant, the largest concentrated solar power plant (CSP) in operation in the world. He also referred to the visit paid by the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and the former Korean President Lee Myung-bak to Barakah site for construction of power plants, being part of the civil nuclear programme. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
