Sheikha Fatima orders offering of US$50,000 to each candidate school which did not win Zayed Future Energy Award

Abu Dhabi: H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has ordered offering US$ 50,000 dollars to honour each school among those nominated in the category of secondary schools in the Zayed Future Energy Award, but did not win the Award last night.
Sheikha Fatima attended the honouring ceremony for winners of the sixth session of the Zayed Future Energy Award, which was held on Monday at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi under the aegis of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
She praised the proposed projects in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development submitted by the candidate schools. They characterised the innovation and reflected knowledge of the future generation of the challenges experienced by the world in terms of energy and environment, and their desire to participate in creating practical solutions through the development of their school buildings by using renewable energy solutions and the application of the principles of sustainability to reduce the carbon emission and environmental impacts of their educational institutions.
Sheikh Fatima expressed her appreciation for the participations by the secondary schools, and affirmed that they were all outstanding and deserve encouragement and motivation to win.
The donation was announced by Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State, during a special ceremony held by the Zayed Future Energy Award yesterday in its pavilion at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES). - Emirates News Agency, WAM
