“Amazing Three-Bays Town” Campaign to boost Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Economy
BANGKOK, October 20 (TNA) - Parties concerned in Thailand’s upper southern Prachuap Khiri Khan province are jointly launching a campaign “Amazing Three-Bays Town” to boost the provincial economy.
Prachuap Khiri Khan Governor Veera Sriwattanatrakul told reporters Saturday that, as part of the public campaign, the parties concerned are beautifying the venues with regulations on seaside stalls imposed to ensure their order.
The “Amazing Three-Bays Town” Campaign and the Red Cross Fair is scheduled to be held at Prachuap Khiri Khan bays in Mueang district from February 15-24, 2013.
Governor Veera said the event is expected to attract more international tourists than this year and to help promote local tourism and to generate tourism-related revenues for local people, noting that this year's event drew some 200,000 international tourists, 36.6 per cent higher from the previous year.
In another development, officials have been mobilized to clean up marine debris at beaches in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin district, aimed at retaining the image of the provincial resort district for international tourists.
Hua Hin Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul acknowledged that a large amount of debris has been washed up on the beaches between Bor Fai and Khao Takaib villages, preventing people and tourists from swimming in the sea.
According to the mayor, this is a natural occurrence caused by seasonal monsoon annually, which usually occurs in late October. (TNA)
