1054 Cases Of Violation Of M'sian Immigration Lawd Involved China Citizens In 2011
By Ng Che Yean
BEIJING, May 14 (Bernama)-- There were 1054 cases of violation of Malaysian
immigration laws involving China citizens in 2011, including visa abuse and
overstaying, according to Malaysian Deputy Home Minister Lee Chee Leong.
The figure was relatively low compared to the 1.2 million people from China
who visited Malaysia last year, the visiting Deputy Minister told the Malaysian
press here Sunday.
Lee said he had held a meeting with his counterpart, China's Deputy Minister
of Public Security, Meng Hongwei, to strengthen cooperation between two
countries in combating transnationl crimes and immigration issues such as visa
abuse, and that China's authorities had agreed to send a working team to
Malaysia very soon.
Lee is on a four-day visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese
Government aimed at further strengthening cooperation in security matters,
including telecommunications fraud, exit and entry administration and
anti-terrorism.
The Deputy Minister also met with China's Minister of Public Security, Meng
Jianzhu, on Friday and attended a dinner with Malaysian students and community
in Beijing at the Malaysian Embassy on Saturday.
