1054 Cases Of Violation Of M'sian Immigration Lawd Involved China Citizens In 2011

By Ng Che Yean BEIJING, May 14 (Bernama)-- There were 1054 cases of violation of Malaysian immigration laws involving China citizens in 2011, including visa abuse and overstaying, according to Malaysian Deputy Home Minister Lee Chee Leong. The figure was relatively low compared to the 1.2 million people from China who visited Malaysia last year, the visiting Deputy Minister told the Malaysian press here Sunday. Lee said he had held a meeting with his counterpart, China's Deputy Minister of Public Security, Meng Hongwei, to strengthen cooperation between two countries in combating transnationl crimes and immigration issues such as visa abuse, and that China's authorities had agreed to send a working team to Malaysia very soon. Lee is on a four-day visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese Government aimed at further strengthening cooperation in security matters, including telecommunications fraud, exit and entry administration and anti-terrorism. The Deputy Minister also met with China's Minister of Public Security, Meng Jianzhu, on Friday and attended a dinner with Malaysian students and community in Beijing at the Malaysian Embassy on Saturday. -- BERNAMA
