The 10th Lunar Month Festival is grandly planned in Nakhon Si Thammarat
NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Sept 24 (TNA) -- Authorities of Nakhon Si Thammarat province will grandly organize the 10th Lunar Month or Hungry Ghost Festival for 10 days and 10 nights starting on Oct 3.
Nakhon Si Thammarat governor Chamroen Tipyapongtada said the long-standing traditional festival of the southern province would express gratitude towards ancestors, show off local wisdom and tourist attractions and promote Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan as a potential World Heritage site.
The festival is set at the temple, Princess Srinagarindra Park and the provincial hall on Oct 3-12.
As the festival will mark its 95th anniversary, provincial authorities plan it to be greater than ever. It will feature a wide range of interesting activities including the exhibitions of local handicrafts and innovations, local lifestyles based on sufficiency economy, and local foods and desserts for the Hungry Ghost Festival.
There will also be shadow puppet, lullaby and Hungry Ghost food contests as well as traditional Nora dances and processions of Hungry Ghost food entries. (TNA)
