12 flights were diverted to Al Ain, Al Bateen and Al Maktoum airports yesterday due to heavy fog: COO of AD Airports
In the early hours of Sunday 27th of April 2014, the emirate of Abu Dhabi witnessed heavy fog, which had a minor impact on aircraft movement at Abu Dhabi International Airport, Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operations Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, has said yesterday.
In total he said in a statement, 12 flights were diverted to Al Ain, Al Bateen and Al Maktoum airports, in line with national and international regulations on low visibility operations, and in coordination with Sheikh Zayed Air Navigation Centre. Diverted flights are to return to Abu Dhabi International Airport after refuelling.
''Abu Dhabi International Airport is equipped to handle low visibility operation, to ensure minimal disruption to operations during such weather conditions. Hence, operation at the airport remained normal and all flights are currently departing and landing as per their existing or revised schedules,'' he emphasised.
