12 teams in Khalid bin Hamad Theatres Festival
Manama, Sep. 25 (BNA): Abdullah Suwayyed, Head of the Evaluation Committee of Khalid bin Hamad Theatres for National Clubs, Youth Centres and People with Disability announced that the committee has commenced its work to evaluate the participating teams and will continue until the beginning of the festival on October 4.
Held under the patronage of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association and Honourary President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, the festival will continue to October 21.
The festival is jointly organised for the third consecutive year by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs and the Media Office of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa on the stage of Muharraq Model Youth Centre.
Suwayyed said that the main responsibilities of the committee are to evaluate, choose and improve the work of the teams that will demonstrate their shows during the days of the festival.
He also said that the committee is continuously coordinating Jamal Al-Ghailan, the Director of Khalid bin Hamad Theatres Festival, and has chosen 12 teams out of 22 teams that applied to take part in the festival. Suwayyed noted that three additional shows will be held on the sidelines of the festival, adding that the committee is supervising the rehearsals of the participating teams and providing technical assistance for them.
On his part, Abdulrahman Busaber, Member of the Evaluation Committee, said that committee members are communicating directly with the directors, scriptwriters and actors, to ensure that their shows are appropriately presented in the festival.
Busaber expressed his appreciation to the humanitarian gestures of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and His Highness's keenness to engage people with disabilities in different social, cultural and sports events and activities in the Kingdom.
On the other hand, the Supreme Organising Committee of the Festival announced that it held its periodic meeting to discuss the updates and arrangements of the festival.
The members of the evaluation committee also attended the meeting and updated the organisers on the latest developments and the chosen teams to participate in the festival.
The Supreme Organising Committee approved the programme of the opening ceremony of the festival that will be held on October 4 as per the directives of HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa.
It's worth mentioning that this year's edition of the festival is themed #Let's_Plant_A_Smile and aims at empowering the youth in the fields of cultural and humanitarian works.
It will introduce several shows, plays and additional activities, with large and active youth participation from various leaders and representatives of national clubs, youth centers and people with disabilities in the Kingdom.
The organising committee announced earlier this week that the cash prizes of the festival have been increased by 100 percent as an additional incentive for the youth to take part in the festival and demonstrate their talents and skills.
