23rd Meeting of Arab League Technical Committee for Environment Wraps Up with Qatar's Participation

Cairo, October 18 (QNA) - The three-day 23rd meeting of the Technical Committee for Environment wrapped up at the headquarters of the General-Secretariat of the Arab League with the participation of the State of Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The meeting discussed a myriad of items of utmost importance for all Arab countries on environment affairs, including the implementation of the environmental dimension of the sustainable development goals, Arab action plan to deal with climate change issues, in addition to following up the international conventions and meetings with respect to environment, such as the international conventions to combat desertification and biodiversity concerning chemicals and hazardous wastes. In addition, the meeting discussed the follow-up of Wetlands Convention, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), coordination on the multi-lateral environmental conventions, adoption of Arabic language among the official languages of Codex Alimentarius Commission, in addition to discussing the topics related to health and environmental situation in Arab countries.
